Where do I post images that are taken on point and shoots / superzooms?

Good question. There's no specific forum for them, so I guess they just belong to other forum categories like landscape, architecture, wildlife, action, etc. according to the type of shot.

I wonder whether it would be possible to have another forum or sub forum for point and shoots etc, but there are so many out there.

I fail to see why they can't be posted just like DSLR pics?

Oh dear, more work for your volunteer Moderators! From the forum index page:
Moved from "Lens gallery - sample images only!" to our feedback section. That said, thanks for taking the time to offer a suggestion on how to improve the forum. 8)

To answer the question, I raised the possibility of expanding the Lens Gallery to include lenses attached to fixed cameras with Gordon some time ago, despite the fact that it would involve me in a deal of extra work maintaining the Index thread. The problem is that while detachable lenses have a long life the rapid pace of technology coupled with the needs of the marketing men mean that fixed lenses rapidly disappear from the scene and would tend to clutter up the Lens Gallery with cameras that would be impossible or difficult to buy.

Maybe there's room for a "Compact Gallery" in our new forum layout now that we've restored the "Camera, lenses and flashes" section to higher visibility. Or maybe we should just continue as we are with images from such cameras either appearing in the camera's own thread(s) in the dedicated manufacturers section or the "Photography showcase" sections. Thoughts?

Bob.

Perhaps a seperate gallery for cameras with non removable lenses.

You could add them to the index thread as images get submitted. Also, the date could be noted :

Index
Fuji S2000 (2008)
Fuji S1000 (2009)
Fuji S1500 (2009)

Canon S4500 (2007)
Canon S5050 (2007)
Canon S6705 (2010)

NB :Made up dates and models above for the purposes of the demo

It's possible though I don't think I'd want to maintain that index as well as the Lens Gallery one - too much work! If we do decide in the future to have a separate gallery you could always start and maintain an Index thread yourself.
