The Olympus SP 560 UZ is the successor to the SP 550 UZ and features the same massive 18x optical zoom range, although a small upgrade in sensor size and resolution to a 1 /2.3in 8 Megapixel model now gives a fractionally wider equivalent range of 27-486mm. As before, the sensor shifts to provide stabilisation, there’s a closest focusing distance of 1cm and now also the inclusion of face detection. The Olympus Stylus 820 offers 8 Megapixel resolution, a 5X optical zoom and 47MB of internal memory. With a weatherproof exterior, it's available in black, silver, red or blue colours. It can focus as close as 3cm, has shutter speeds from 4 seconds to 1/2000, and sensitivity from 64 to 1600 ISO. There's also 20 scene presets, and a movie mode which records VGA video at 30fps.

The Olympus Stylus 790 SW offers 7 Megapixel resolution, a 3X optical zoom and 14.7MB of internal memory. With a durable exterior, it's shockproof up to 1.5m, waterproof up to 3m and freezeproof to minus 10 degrees. It can take 7cm close-ups, has shutter speeds from 4 seconds to 1/1000, and sensitivity from 64 to 1600 ISO. There's 23 scene presets, image stabilisation that reduces camera shake by increasing the ISO, and a movie mode which records VGA video at 30fps.
